India, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, achieved a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series against Zimbabwe. The final match, held at the Harare Sports Club, saw India secure a 35-run victory. Other notable contributions came from Ishan Kishan, who scored 29 runs, Iyer himself with 27 runs off 18 balls, and Rinku Singh, who added 25 runs off 14 deliveries.
On the bowling front, Yash Thakur made an impact early in Zimbabwe’s innings by dismissing Brian Bennett with the first ball, followed by the wickets of Dion Myers and Sikandar Raza. Mayank Yadav finished with figures of 3/29, while Ravi Bishnoi and Ashok Sharma each took one wicket. Despite Ryan Burl’s unbeaten 54 runs, Zimbabwe fell short of the target.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was also named Player of the Series for his total of 151 runs across the three matches. His performance, particularly his fearless intent, drew praise from Iyer.
Captaincy milestone and future outlook
Shreyas Iyer achieved a unique captaincy milestone before the series even began, winning his eighth consecutive toss in T20 Internationals. This streak, which occurred between June and July 2026, surpassed MS Dhoni’s previous record of seven consecutive toss wins for an Indian captain in T20Is.
